Cell Lines: Lactic acid bacteria (LAB)

Summary: Probiotics, particularly strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB), are recognized for their beneficial effects on gut health. Lactobacillus acidophilus L177, a promising probiotic strain isolated from canine feces, was evaluated for safety and probiotic properties through whole genome sequencing and a 28-day subacute oral toxicity study in C57BL/6 mice. In this study, the Halo Counter HD-4 Cell Counter (Hiscore Inc, China) was used for counting and quality control to ensure the validity of whole-genome sequencing of lactic acid bacteria. In conclusion, L. acidophilus L177 demonstrated excellent safety profiles and probiotic potential based on in vivo toxicity studies and whole-genome analysis. Future studies should explore the strains efficacy in clinical settings, focusing on its probiotic effects, such as gut health modulation and immune support. Additionally, long-term safety assessments and mechanistic studies on probiotic action will further validate the utility of L. acidophilus L177 as a safe and effective probiotic.
